Kathmandu: The Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA) is gearing up to host the 'River Festival and Mahajalyatra' this Saturday as part of its dedicated efforts to spearhead the Bagmati River conservation campaign. Collaborating for this cause, the Nepal River Conservation Organization and Friends Club will also play pivotal roles in organizing the event.

Mr. Shishir Khanal, the Vice Chairman of NARA, expressed that the forthcoming event, scheduled to unfold on Saturday, holds the twin objectives of shedding light on the historical and cultural significance of the Bagmati river civilization, as well as advancing rafting and water tourism prospects within the Kathmandu Valley.

The event's inaugural ceremony is set to commence at 7:00 am on Saturday at the Bagmati Bridge located in Kupandole, Lalitpur. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in riveting rafting experiences facilitated by a fleet of 15 boats.

Over time, fervent activists have diligently organized a series of programs in an attempt to safeguard the Bagmati River's legacy—a waterway steeped in both social and religious history within the Kathmandu Valley. This upcoming festival stands as a testament to the commitment of these conservationists and enthusiasts towards preserving the river's invaluable heritage.
